How to read the result

The estimate compounds each monthly instalment at your expected annual return for the full time period. The green portion of the bar is your estimated returns; the rest is what you actually invested. The longer you stay invested, the larger the returns portion tends to become — that is compounding at work.

A calculator can show the maths, but the right monthly amount, fund choices and goal mapping are personal. That is the part a plan solves — and where a Certified Financial Planner professional helps.

FAQ

Common questions

What is a SIP?

A Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) is a way to invest a fixed amount in a mutual fund at regular intervals — usually monthly. It builds the habit of investing and averages your purchase cost over time, so you don't have to time the market.

How does this SIP calculator work?

It compounds each monthly instalment at your expected annual return (converted to a monthly rate) for the full period, and — if you set an annual step-up — increases the instalment once a year. It then shows your total invested, estimated returns and final value.

What return should I assume?

Returns are never guaranteed. Historically, diversified equity mutual funds in India have delivered roughly 10–12% per year over long periods, but actual returns vary and can be negative in any given year. Use a conservative figure and treat the result as an estimate, not a promise.

What is a step-up SIP?

A step-up (or top-up) SIP increases your monthly investment by a fixed percentage each year — usually in line with your income growth. Even a small annual step-up can meaningfully increase your final corpus.
